A documentation of Vic's walk

Welcome to my Appalachian dream!!!

On April 11th 2003 I started a hike of the Appalachian Trial with hopes of completing the 2172.6 miles before October 15th. After hiking (wading!) through the record breaking rains of May and June 2003, watching the leaves come out and rhododendrons bloom in spring, testing my mosquitoe tolerance (not bad...), feeling the heat of the summer, checking my resistance to poison oak (not good...), enjoying the excitement of seeing "what's around the next corner" through 14 states (which included familiar places like the Smoky Mountains, Shenandoah's, White Mountains presidential range and Maine Wilderness), watching fall arrive and the leaves turn color, I completed the hike on October 5th, 2003 on a Snow and Ice covered Mt Katahdin.
The experience was one I'll never forget, loaded with incredible scenery, physical and mental  challenges, and great people.

There are over 1600 pictures in the "Photos" link with captions, info "About the AT" from the Appalachian trail conference, "Maps" of the trail, "Stats and Data" from my hike (daily mileage, calories, pack weight), "gear list" of everything I carried, replaced and wore out, and "links and resources" about the trail, equipment, and references. To see updates that were posted during the hike
